State of Dusiburg and Region of San Dusiburgo Unite

The Council of the State of Dusiburg and the Parliament of the Region of San Dusiburgo have approved the Compact for the Union between two regions of the Federation.

More than five months after the union of the Duspean Republic and the Country of Reality and extensive negotiations on the administrative optimization of the European Federation, two Italian regions — the former capital of the DU, State of Dusiburg, and the Region of San Dusiburgo — have agreed to unite. First signs appeared when San Dusiburgo's National Guard was placed under the command of the National Guard of the State of Dusiburg.

According to the polls conducted by Eurostat (formerly Dusstat, the Federal Agency for Statistics of the Duspean Republic) 74% of San Dusiburgers are in favour of uniting with Dusiburg. San Dusiburgo's government says the union will bring significant economic benefits, given Dusiburg's stronger regional economy.

Under the terms of the Compact, concluded pursuant to Article 37 of the Federal Constitution, San Dusiburgo will cease to exist as an autonomous region and its territory will be fully incorporated into the State of Dusiburg, though existing regional laws will remain in force for a three-month transitional period. The agreement also strips San Dusiburgo of its independent representation in the Federal Senate — its citizens will instead be represented as part of Dusiburg.
